HISTORY OF OUR COMPANY
Craftsmen Mobility Systems grew out
of its sister company, Craftsmen Auto Body Clinic, which was started by
Thomas Egan in 1985. In late 1986, as a result of a chance conversation
with a medical equipment salesperson, Tom began to take an interest in
simple modifications such as hand controls and scooter lifts. By 1987,
CABC had started to do more complex modifications such as van lifts, tiedowns,
and raised roof modifications. In 1989, Tom decided to focus on expanding
and professionalizing vehicle modification services and hired a dedicated
technician as the sole employee of Craftsmen Mobility Systems. In 1993,
Access Unlimited was born in order to develop and distribute innovative
and cost-effective driving and transfer products, opening new doors for
both our customers and funding agencies. In 1996, Craftsmen/Access Unlimited
decided to close the auto body shop operation in order to sharpen their
focus on their core vehicle modification services. Craftsmen/Access now
employs 9 highly motivated and uniquely qualified individuals, and continues
to grow. CMS, and AU complement each other, sharing a philosophy of identifying
our customers’ needs and responding to those needs with quality products
and practices.
