About Eve:
Eve Snyder studies women’s history and is committed to social justice
issues. She believes in the power and tradition of women-owned
businesses and the feminine narrative; that is why she calls her company
HerStory Whole Foods. A committed vegetarian for most of
her life, Eve discovered muesli years ago and fell in love with the
concept of eating a whole plant-based food for breakfast and snack. She
tried several mueslis but could not find one that did not taste
like cardboard in her opinion. So she set out to develop and produce
her own muesli, much richer in a wide variety of fruits and nuts than
what she had tasted. The result was Lucy's Muesli!!
So who is Lucy? Eve's dog, of course! Lucy is a rescued Pit Bull-Rottweiler-Shepard
mix with a personality as big as the taste of her muesli. The first
generation of Lucy's Muesli even featured a photo of Lucy on the
packaging and a dog-lover theme. However, after several reports of
consumers mistaking Lucy's Muesli for dog food (in fact it had
been on occasion!! :-) and despite her best efforts at relabeling, Eve
resigned herself to a complete redesign of her packaging. A lover of
the Art Nouveau style, Eve designed a label that gives a hint of the
pleasure of eating a bowl of her delicious muesli.
In formulating Lucy's Muesli, Eve made a conscious decision to put
quality, health and taste before pure economic and business
considerations. Her firm conviction is that a quality product will
generate "organic" growth in sales and committed consumers. Our
experience with customer after customer and in store after store has proven her right.
